I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started learning Salsa. It turns out that it’s the most popular partner dance in the World, and an utterly addictive, flavourful obsession. It’s really a no-brainer: full live latin bands, dancing, and beautiful girls who know how to move their bodies. And if you need the business case, I’ve never met such a variety of people in my life in one night. Salsa isn’t just a dance, it is a truly open and friendly community that spans the globe.
After getting a taste for salsa at the University of Victoria Rueda (Cuban Salsa) club, I decided to join Sabor Asi in January, 2011. I’ve always had a love for latin music and now under an amazing teacher, Javier Monsalve, I’m exploring the music in a whole new way. Javier bring’s an amazing energy to his work, making his students and friends smile, laugh, and enjoy the positive side of life.
Since joining, Sabor Asi has performed at the Rose City Salsa Festival (Vancouver, WA), the Courtney Salsa Festival (Courtney, BC), and at various other local events. For more info on Salsa in Victoria, BC and Sabor Asi visit Salsavictoria.com.

Since University I’ve spent a significant amount of time chatting about interesting life topics and struggling to keep in touch with all of the fascinating friends and people I have met, especially overseas. At the same time, I’ve had the opportunity to take on some amazing projects, and set off on some crazy worldly adventures. This blog will be the central spot where I share my stories, explore my thoughts, and connect with like-minded people; be they friends, entrepreneurs, suits, villagers or fellow adventure seekers – the common thread, our passion for life.
What I share with you will blend my experiences from the worlds of Business and Art with my motivation for personal growth and living a fulfilled life. Now what do I mean by fulfilled? I believe that 90% of people are sleepwalking through their lives, and many of those 90% are just plain sleeping. They’re not exploring themselves or the World. They’re not learning new things, trying new activities, whole-heartedly pouring themselves into interesting projects – they’re just getting by. I have never really understood the point of just getting by, except to live an exceptionally boring and unremarkable life that will surely lead to regret. Instead, I propose a different path.
I believe the age old question “What is the meaning of life?” is really quite simple. Find what makes you happy, do that thing, and make a difference in the World. Why is it so simple? You can’t be successful or even good at something that you don’t enjoy, and you certainly can’t help other people enjoy themselves or make any sort of difference if you’re not carrying out your work with your full heart and soul. To make the World a better place, you have to first search for what makes you happy and then discover how you can make a difference. What legacy will you leave behind?
This blog is about sharing my journey toward living a fulfilled life; my thoughts, my adventures, and the people I meet along the way. Join me.
